How much change changes who we are?
In the daily risk we all take to engage another, we muster up the courage to interact. There is never a guarantee that the the meeting will be wonderful. But it could be, so we take the chance.
As in our one-on-one engagements, community interactions can be equally eventful. Or not.
In these 2 snapshots, two very different communities meet.
One group is made up of wood, shell beads, stones and leaves, with an outer wall made of pine needles. The woven textile "land" has slender inhabitants stepping out beyond the edge of the community.
In the deep vastness, a community of light. Its edges are distinct. Promethean?
How will this interaction go? Are they friend or foe?
After any interaction, we grow, we learn, we shift, and most importantly, we practice being present with others. It is a challenge to be open, patient, trusting, careful, and compassionate. What, if any, will the effect of be?
Like working our muscles, we strengthen the skill of being.
We develop our resilience with change.
In my quest to move away from synthetic glues and polymers, I am looking to use encaustic medium to attach my materials to a fabric surface and to the wood substrate.
As I complete the set of two, I think of them as two amigos, and all is well.
